My name is Julie Wade and my Mum tells me that I have been holding a paintbrush since I was a very small child.....

I have always been creative all the way through school and always wanted to paint so I went off to do a two year Art Foundation course. I then met my husband and we found our lovely house in Rutland, settled there and we had our son, Jazz. I was even creative when I worked full time. I always found time to paint, draw, make clothing for myself and things for our house.I live with my husband and my two cats Reggae and Spam (who do come down the studio with me)

Ten years ago I suddenly had a scary time in hospital and eventually was diagnosed with MS. After returning to work for a short time I had a relapse which left me with walking issues and other MS problems and was not able to return to work. After I nearly went  insane being at home every day, my husband decided it would be a good idea to build a studio in our garden for me to spend the day doing what I love ...CREATING! and that is what I do.

My inspiration for my art is really eclectic.... I do paint cats along with things I love the items I have collected over the years and amusing ideas for paintings that just come to me.My paintings always do make people smile. I paint with gouache paint as I love colour and this medium does exactly what I require.I sometimes use collage in my work as pattern and prints interest me also.

My other passion is making jewellery out of other peoples' unwanted beads and rubbish. I very rarely buy new beads and I am a second-hand shop and carboot visiter.I take my finds home and break them up to make my own style of jewellery.

I join with other local artists in Rutland for the Open Studios in June and open my house and studio to the public. This is a great time and I have met lots of interested and interesting people and have sold during this time aswell (which is always a bonus !)

My son Jazz (who also illustrates) informed me that I should get on the here I am.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work...
